Visual Intelligence Graduate School Gathering in Tromsø

Two-day gathering in Tromsø for young researchers in Visual Intelligence

The program will take place at Forskningsparken (Sykehusvegen 21). The full program is
shown below and is focused on collaborative scientific software development. There will be
a combination of talks and practical exercises, so participants should bring their computer.
In addition to the software development, there will be a component on experiment tracking
and data processing for deep learning from VIGS researchers.

In the evening on the 7th of November, there will be a social event and a dinner. The social
event is a joint trip to Fjellheisen, a cable-car that leads to a mountain overlooking the entire
city of Tromsø. The dinner will be at Hildr restaurant, which is focused on using seasonal
ingredients from Northern Norway.

We recommend the following hotels for accommodation:
• Clarion Hotel the Edge.
• Scandic Ishavshotel.

Both are in the city center with frequent bus connections to Forskningsparken.

Monday 7th of November

09:45 - 10:00 -> Welcome
10:00 - 10:45 -> Intro to git and getting started exercises.
11:00 - 12:00 -> Talks VIGS researchers on experiments tracking / data processing.
12:00 - 13:00 -> Lunch.
13:00 - 15:00 -> Git branching, merging, conflict, conversational development.
17:00 - 19:00 -> Trip to Fjellheisen.
20:00 -            -> Dinner at Hildr.

Tuesday 8th of November

10:00 - 12:00 -> Clean code and documentation and code design.
12:00 - 13:00 -> Lunch
13:00 - 15:00 -> Profiling and testing/debugging.
